Kristy Logan

Kristy Logan began her serious yoga study with Mark Horner in 1999. Though she originally came to yoga to help heal overuse injuries from her 25-year dance performance and teaching career, she fell in love with yoga for its own sake.

She attended Mark Horner's Advanced Studies Course which included the study and practice of bandhas, pranayama, kriyas, Iyengar technique for asanas, and the reading and discussion of philosophical yoga texts.

She began teaching yoga in 2002. In 2003, with the exciting "discovery" of power yoga at World Yoga, she embraced this style immediately and began blending Iyengar alignment principles with a dynamic vinyasa practice for herself and in her teaching. She maintains a regular home practice that includes meditation as well as enjoying continued study with many local yoga teachers. She has attended yoga workshops with Bryan Kest, Shiva Rea and Mark Horner.

What Kristy emphasizes in her classes is staying connected to one's breath. She likes to have students hold poses long enough to feel their breath elongating and deepening their asana as well as training a steady mind. She gives gentle, hands-on adjustments to help yogis feel more openness and "availability" in their bodies while cultivating such qualities as kindness, compassion, generosity and acceptance. She loves it when she can help a student do something they haven't tried yet (like a headstand), didn't believe they could do (like a handstand) or get closer to finding (like a jump-through). Along with EVERYTHING that yoga is and the practice of yoga can do, it's fun too!
